Westminster Woods is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit nestled in a 200-acre coastal redwood forest in Occidental, CA. Since 1946, The Woods has been creating a sanctuary for transformative experiences. From students exploring redwood forest ecology and marine science, to summer campers chasing adventure, to guest groups seeking renewal beneath the trees, Westminster Woods has something for everyone.

Each year, thousands of students from across Northern California explore our outdoor education programs. Students are guided by Teacher Naturalists who help them understand the forest, the watershed, and their place within it. However, the learning goes well beyond science. Through team building and our Challenge Course, students are able to build confidence, empathy, and resilience. 

When summer arrives, that same spirit of discovery takes a new shape. Programs like Camp Heartwood and Camp Soulspring welcome campers of all ages for a week of adventure, friendship, faith and growth beneath the trees. 

For eight decades, churches, ministries, families, and nonprofit organizations have found tranquility and connection under the redwoods through our guest group rentals and weekend retreats. Every season brings new faces and new stories, reminding us that Westminster Woods isn't just a place. It's a living, breathing community.
